Eyeing trials in November, all pillars readied along the priority corridor of Kanpur Metro!

Equipped with advanced resources, the trains will strengthen the local transport network in the city.

Gearing up for the maiden trials of Kanpur Metro in November this year, UPMRC officials have successful completed the installation of pillars along the entire stretch of the priority corridor. Extending over a length of 9 km, the priority corridor links IIT Kanpur to Motijheel, having a total of 9 stations. Additionally, the assembling and testing work of the first set of Kanpur Metro trains is in its final stage and it is expected that the coaches will arrive in the city by the end of September.

Recently, the Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation assessed the development of trains at Savli Plant in Gujarat. Once the coaches arrive in Kanpur, the authorities will amplify plans for the trial runs in November. Equipped with advanced resources, the trains will strengthen the local transport network in the city, ushering ease of commute for the city folks.

Reportedly, these trains have been developed under the 'Make in India' initiative with assistance from international companies in the sector. As per reports, they have the facility of a Communication Based Train Control System, allowing automated operations. Prioritising passenger comfort and efficient energy utilisation, the trains have state-of-the-art facilities including CO2 sensor-based air-conditioning system.

As per reports, Kanpur Metro will receive 8 trains for the operational launch of its priority section. Further, reports state the manufacturer will supply a total of 39 trains having 3 coaches, for the two stretches of Kanpur Metro. While Corridor-1 will extend from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta, Corridor-2 will connect Chandra Shekhar Azad Agriculture University to Barra-8. Under the first phase of this project, the priority corridor will be made functional soon.
