The Kanpur Metro Project has gained speed yet again and as per the latest developments, a kilometre long metro track has been laid between the IIT Kanpur and Kalyanpur metro stations of the priority corridor. With this accomplishment in a short period of over 40 days, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation officials hope that the plans will be materialised as per the earlier decided timeline and the facility will be made operational soon.
As per reports, the track is being prepared by joining segments, which are 18 metres in length. Further, it has been reported that welded rails are being deployed for the establishment of the Kanpur Metro routes. These slabs are resistant to the effects of changing weather conditions and they do not relax or contract in the winters. With the help of strengthened clamps and specialised joints, it is ensured that the tracks are held together perfectly. According to reports, the track system contains rails, plinth, rail sheet, rubber pad, fastener and other things.
