In a significant development in the Kanpur Metro Rail project, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) has completed the construction of 276 pile caps. With this, the casting of all pile caps of the 5-km long elevated section from Baradevi to Naubasta of Corridor 1 has been accomplished. Five metro stations, comprising Baradevi, Kidwai Nagar, Vasant Vihar, Baudh Nagar and Naubasta, under the said section, are being developed.
On the occasion, the UPMRC Managing Director Sushil Kumar shared, “We have completed the casting of all 276 Pile Caps for this section and will soon complete the casting of all the piers. The team of engineers of Uttar Pradesh Metro is working day and night to provide timely metro service to the city residents.”
Apart from this, the track construction between Bada Chauraha and Naveen Market station, under the Chunniganj-Nayaganj underground section, has begun. "After Kanpur Metro's Nayaganj to Bada Chauraha, track construction work has started between Bada Chauraha to Naveen Market station. After welding of railway tracks, casting of track slab started from today," UPMRC announced on X (previously Twitter) last week.
Moreover, construction work is also in full swing on the Kanpur Central-Transport Nagar underground section.
