India's 2011 Cricket World Cup winner and former cricketer, Suresh Raina, may soon have a pavilion at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium, named after him. A proposal has been sent to the state government, under which the stadium operates. The attacking batsman is all set to return to the cricketing arena on January 10, with the start of the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament.

He has also been a part of the Chennai Super Kings team, scoring more than 5000 runs for the franchise and further, Raina has left his mark with his best score of 100*, against Kings XI Punjab in 2013.

Raina recently attended a 10-day camp at Kamla Club, organized by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and he will soon represent his home state in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament from January 10 onwards. The tournament is spread across six bio-secure bubbles in cities like Bangalore, Kolkata, Indore, Mumbai, Vadodra and Chennai. The final will take place on January 31 and the board will make a decision on the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy after the group stage of the domestic T20.
Cricket fans will be delighted to see a stand named after a boy, who became a cricketing star after starting his journey from a small town in Ghaziabad. Suresh Raina will continue to play for Chennai Super Kings, even after missing out on the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League, citing personal reasons.
