The doors of the 'Visitors Gallery' cricket museum in Kanpur's Green Park were thrown open for the public on Feb 19. The museum, which was inaugurated on Sunday, is like a trip down memory lane for the city's cricket buffs, showcasing mementos, photographs, paper cuttings and cricket gear used by world-renowned cricketers.

A rich history of unforgettable cricketing moments

From Mohammed Azharuddin's elegant century in 1984 to Shahid Afridi's 45-ball hundred in 2005, irrespective of which side they were supporting, fans have brought home memories from the Green Park that they fondly recall to this day. And who can forget AB De Villiers' 104 of 73 balls in a 2015 ODI played here, when the stadium reverberated with chants of "ABD...ABD", leaving people awestruck at the love shown by Indian fans to an opposing player.

The newly-inaugurated 'Visitors Gallery' will host snapshots and mementos from these among several other memorable matches played at the stadium. Furthermore, a documentary showing the history of the stadium was also played at Green Park's Amphi Theatre during the inauguration of said museum.
