Kanpur's Chakeri airport will soon say goodbye to sunset limitations that result in cancellation and diversion of several flights, as its night-landing facility all set to become operation on May 26. Once the NLF is up and running at Kanpur airport, the central line of the runway will be visible to aircrafts from a distance of up to 25 km. This will allow aircrafts to land even after sunset hours, and late in the night.
It is noteworthy that as of March 2023, there were 44 operational airports in India that did not cater to night landing. Come the end of May, Kanpur's Chakeri airport will make an exodus from the list, as it attempts to cope with the increasing traffic demand by allowing flights to land late at night.
