As per new orders by Kanpur Municipal Corporation, citizens will now have to inform the authorities before bringing home a pet. Those failing to do so will have to pay a hefty fine of ₹1200, irrespective of breed and size. The Municipal Corporation is also planning to bring pet clinics under the purview of the license.

A survey conducted 3 months ago, highlighted that out of more than 2800 pets in the city, less than 50 are registered. To tighten their grip on the defaulters, the authorities have introduced the new fine. Those with unregistered dogs at home will now have to pay a hefty fine. Earlier the registration fees for indigenous breeds was ₹250 and ₹500 for foreign breeds.

Apart from this, the executive committee of the district corporation has also taken a decision regarding cow owners. As per which, it is now mandatory for the owners of one or more cows to get a license. However, the license fee for the same has not been decided yet.
