The coronavirus infection graph in Kanpur peaked to its highest tally on Sunday, raising concerns among authorities. The Health Department reports have marked Kanpur as the third most affected region in Uttar Pradesh, clocking in a high number of virus cases, each day. At this crucial stage of the second wave swell, it has become essential to break the chain of infection with promptness, to arrest the chances of increased contact contamination.

Kanpur has also reported the second-highest number of deaths across the state, tallying up to 1,062 since the outbreak of the fatal coronavirus last year. With an average case fatality ratio of 1%, Kanpur reported around 19 virus-related deaths on Sunday. This high death count has consequently created a shortage of cremation spaces in Kanpur, spilling the horror of the pandemic beyond the hospitals.
