Kanpur would soon house a manufacturing centre for developing different types of equipment to be used in defence vehicles. The new industrial complex is set to witness the production of composite materials for the usage in submarines, missiles and other aerospace vehicles. It is proposed that the unit would be established in the Bilhaur region of the city. As per reports, the project is being spearheaded by an entrepreneur from Kanpur, who is trained in aerospace engineering.

Tanmay Tiwari, a young businessman from the city has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority at Aero India 2021 show, conducted in Bangalore. The MoU, which was materialised on Friday, has furthered the plans of setting up the proposed production house.
Tanmay, who is a resident of Pandav Nagar, completed his M.Tech in Aerospace engineering from UK's Swansea University. Reportedly, the prolific entrepreneur informed that he had launched a company called Datum Advanced Composites on May 26, 2020 to work on projects in the field of engineering and design.Tanmay's company shall install the manufacturing unit in Bilhaur through a two-stage process. It is anticipated that the upcoming establishment shall open employment opportunities for around 150 people.

Composite materials are used in an array of industries ranging from the aerospace & defence sectors to the automation sector. The innovative materials are used in the production of aircraft, submarines and wind turbines. Speaking of the developments in the slated project, the businessman informed that the company has already procured more than 1600 yards of land in Bilhaur and it is plannig to expand its area in consultaion with the officials from UPEIDA.
Initiatives like these are highly conducive towards uplifting the image of Kanpur as a hub for industrial developments. It is noteworthy that such projects are beneficial towards reducing unemployment in the city too.
