University of Kashmir and IIT Kanpur sign MOU to boost Innovation and Entrepreneurship in J&K

The MOU will facilitate knowledge sharing, faculty development, internships and startup training efforts between the partnering institutions.

In a significant leap forward in the realm of entrepreneurship and innovation, the University of Kashmir and the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) have solidified their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

This collaboration empowers both the institutions to offer joint incubation services for startups, providing mentorship, tech support, funding access, and a hub for knowledge exchange.

The MoU will bolster knowledge exchange and other ties

The official signing ceremony, held at the university's main campus last week, marks a momentous step in their shared commitment to nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship. The MOU was formally exchanged between KU Registrar, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, and Dr. Nikhil Agarwal, the CEO of the Startup Innovation and Incubation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur.

This partnership will enable both universities to provide co-incubation facilities to startups, offering mentorship, technological support, access to funding, and a platform for knowledge exchange, inspiring the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to embrace innovation and entrepreneurship.

The signing ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Prof. Nilofar Khan, KU Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Gowhar Bashir, Director of the Institute of Technology (IOT) Zakura, Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Zarri, Special Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Malik, Coordinator of CIIE, IOT Zakura, Jatin Mishra from SIIC, IIT Kanpur, Dr. Maroof Qadri, Director of Information Technology and Support System (IT&SS), and Bashir Ahmad Haji, Director of Finance, among other university officials.
