Several cities in Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, have been hit by a rapid surge in dengue cases. A total of 32 cases were detected in the city in just the past 24 hours, increasing the monthly tally to 429.

The sharp spike in dengue cases in Lucknow this week is mainly due to a spell of unseasonal rainfall, which lashed the city last week, creating favourable conditions for mosquitos to breed. This resulted in rapid spreading of the vector-borne disease, Dengue.

Which areas of the city are most impacted?

Out of the 32 fresh cases reported in the city this Sunday, most of the cases have been reported in the Alambagh area, with 7 cases. Apart from that, Chinhat, Dubagga, Aliganj, Faizullaganj, Sarojninagar, Indira Nagar, Para and Telibagh have also been affected.

Owing to the surge in cases, the health department has started initiatives for the control and prevention of the disease. Various teams have been deployed in areas of the city to visit homes and check the presence of stagnant water. At hospitals, helpdesks will be set-up to cater to patients.

Furthermore, control units have also been deployed to conduct anti-larvae spray in different areas and hospital campuses.
