Lucknowites finally breathed a sigh of relief on Monday as the sun made a welcomed but hazy appearance after shying away for the past couple of days. Lucknowites finally breathed a sigh of relief on Monday as the sun made a welcomed but hazy appearance after shying away for the past couple of days. The chilly winds accompanying the sunlight, however, haven't subsided and city dwellers will still be gripped by temperatures colder than that of hill stations like Srinagar and Shimla, like that on Sunday.
As the season turns colder by each other passing day, the city faced an unusual phenomena with almost three days of sun deprivation. Startling meteorological reports revealed that while Srinagar recorded a temperature of 12.4°C on Sunday, Lucknow's mercury plummeted to 11.8°C, leaving residents shivering in the cold. Moreover, Lucknow also marked its second coldest day in six years on Saturday.
As per the met department, there is no relief from the biting cold conditions on the horizon in the coming few days. While the night temperatures are expected to drop to 5°C, the dangerous AQI levels, currently hovering around a precarious 354, suggest that one should stay indoors as much as possible.
