Schools in Lucknow, Kanpur & other UP districts to reopen at 50% attendance from August 16

Amid the bettering scope of the COVID graph in Uttar Pradesh, the state administration has decided to re-open schools, in line with pandemic preventive protocols from August 16. Reportedly, only 50% attendance will be allowed in all district schools to respect the norms of social distancing within campuses. It will be mandatory for all attendees, including students, teachers and staff to wear masks and strictly adhere to the guidelines for maximum safety against the coronavirus.

In a meeting of the state's COVID monitoring body, Team 9, the Uttar Pradesh administration has started to make necessary arrangements to reopen schools from August 16, 2021, Monday. For attendance, students have to produce a written letter of consent from their parents. Without this, no student will be permitted to enter the school premises.

"Intermediate Schools in the state will re-open from August 16 with 50 percent capacity. Colleges and universities will reopen from September 1," a spokesman of the government said. The Chief Minister on Monday also directed the concerned officials to work out the modalities in this regard.

Meanwhile, the UP administration has also waved the green signal to commence the admission process for undergraduate and graduate classes from August 5. The admission process at secondary schools, where students have been promoted, will also being soon. This timeline will be accommodated accordingly so that classes can begin from August 16, read reports.
