Driving home the point of road safety, a traffic awareness drive has been initiated in Lucknow to mark the road safety month that is being observed from May 18 to June 18 in Uttar Pradesh. Under the ambit of the UP road safety campaign, various events, bike rallies & awareness drives are being carried out across Lucknow.
Through these initiatives, Lucknow Police along with the traffic police department aims to create awareness among citizens to make roads safer for all.
Notably, a grand event was organised at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan to create consciousness among youngsters in Lucknow on Monday. Students and teaching staff from various city schools and colleges participated in the event to know more about traffic rules, problems one faces on the road and their solutions.
According to District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash, this event was a part of the celebrations of the road safety month that is being observed from May 18 to June 18 in Uttar Pradesh. At the gathering, the DM informed students of the ills of drinking and driving and asked them to refrain from overspeeding and performing stunts while riding.
In addition to this, the traffic policemen are also distributing pamphlets with basic traffic rules to the city folks at important intersections in Lucknow like Atal Chowk, 1090 Women Power Line crossing and others. Moreover, a dedicated vehicle with traffic rules posters showcasing the importance of following these rules is doing rounds in the city.
Through this drive, the administration aims to bring down the number of accidents, streamline the traffic and spread awareness about the basic traffic rules among the citizens.
