Boosting aircraft movement & passenger capacity, Lucknow airport set to receive a massive overhaul

A large integrated terminal and associated facilities will be added to the airport which could likely be ready by October.

The Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) is in to receive an extensive overhaul as the Adani Group plans to invest a sum of ₹5000 crores for the upgradation of the terminals.

Under this, a large integrated terminal and associated facilities will be added to the Lucknow airport to expand aircraft movement and handle increased passenger capacity.

New Terminal 3 of the CCSI Airport to become operational by October

Additionally, Lucknow Airport International Limited (LIAL), an Adani Group company and the body in charge of managing operations of the CCSI Airport has also sought a passenger tariff hike to pull funds for the development.

Reportedly, the authority aims to complete phase 1 of the Terminal 3 (T3) complex in October which is presently under construction. Once ready, T3 complex will have the capacity to handle an additional passenger load of 80 lakh per annum. This will be followed by the completion of phase 2, summing the overall completion of the terminal 3 complex and adding a surplus capacity of 50 lakh passengers per annum.

Furthermore, the new T3 building will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including e-gates, self-baggage drop counters and modern lounges.

LIAL to also plant 1.5 lakh saplings in the area

Under LIAL's additional plans, the T3 complex of CCI airport will also include dedicated OLA, Uber and taxi pick-up and drop-off zones which will be in line with travel-related 'super app' facilitating commute facilities for the passengers.

Additionally, LIAL already has an environmental clearance to take capacity up to almost 4 crore flyers per annum. LIAL will also work on enhancing the green cover of the area by planting 1.5 lakh saplings in the surrounding region.
