Coronavirus cases on a rise in Lucknow; 7 new containment zones listed

As per new orders, about 7 new containment zones have been set up in prominent areas of Lucknow, given the recent surge in coronavirus cases. On Monday, Lucknow reported about 495 new COVID-19 cases, breaching the 400-mark for the second day in succession. As per the recorded data, the present-day infection count has emerged as the sharpest single-day rise since the beginning of 2021.

New containment zones listed to curb the rise in cases

Following the directives of the district authorities, areas reporting the highest number of coronavirus cases in Lucknow have been converted into containment zones. These include Alambagh, Aliganj, Chinhat Indiranagar, Tudiaganj and Aishbagh, which collectively host about 7 such restrictive zones. All activity in these areas will be under the scrutiny of the district authorities so that the rate of a viral resurgence in the city can be minimised.

District Administration has also shared zone-wise numbers of essential facilities and services here for the benefit of the people residing in these containment zones. These include the numbers of kirana (grocery)stores, medical shops, online supplies, hospitals. Emergency numbers have also been shared to help people solve deal with any unforeseen crisis.

While Lucknow is boosting defence against the rapid rise of coronavirus, the recuperation rate is raising concerns among district and health officials alike. As reported, Lucknow's recovery has fallen to 97.1% from 98.2% earlier. While the total aggregate has clocked in 85,070 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, 81,268 people have recovered in the city. About 2,598 continue to receive active treatment here while 1,204 have fallen prey to the infection.
