Empowering education in rural UP, Jal Jeevan Mission to set up 'smart classrooms' in 9 schools

The Jal Jeevan Mission of Uttar Pradesh is embarking on a new initiative to establish smart classrooms in rural districts across the state.

In its initial phase, the mission will focus on upgrading 9 schools catering to students from classes 1 to 8, situated in various rural regions. The selected areas for this endeavor encompass Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda, Jhansi, Jalaun and Lalitpur. These schools will undergo improvements to transform them into smart schools.

What new resources will be added to the schools?

As part of this initiative, government schools will receive enhanced learning facilities, encompassing libraries, science labs, computer labs, mathematics labs, smart classrooms, staff rooms and language learning labs.

Besides this, the schools will undergo infrastructural upgrades to improve their overall condition. This will involve strengthening the existing buildings and establishing dining sheds to facilitate midday meals for the students.

Furthermore, the water resources department will ensure the availability of clean drinking water from the taps and will establish better sanitary resources in the schools.

Rural Water Resources dept. to utilize CSR funds for upgrading schools

The Jal Jeevan Mission which falls under the UP Irrigation and Water Resources Department. The sub-department is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India.

This unique initiative, aimed at enhancing the education framework in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh, is supported by Namami Gange and the Rural Water Resources Department. These departments, in collaboration with associated companies, will utilize their CSR funds to facilitate the upgrading of these schools.

After the first phase, the department will further work on adding similar resources to the schools of other remaining areas of UP in a phase wise manner.
