Begum Fest 2023 |A vibrant tribute to Lucknow's 'Ada' & 'Andaaz'

Khushbu Kirti

Lighting up Lucknow in cultural hues is Begum Fest 2023, showcasing the Awadhi 'Andaaz' in various events. If you're awed by literature, culture, history and the culinary expertise of your city, this event is for you! Mark the dates, December 22-25, to experience a symphony of cultural flavours presented by eminent guests.

With the vibrant theme ‘Andaaz-e-Lucknow' or the 'swag of the city’, this 4-day extravaganza is being hosted at Salempur House.

What days at Begum Fest 2023 will look like: Things to do and engage in

This will be followed by a informative discussion on ‘Andaaz-e-Lucknow’ with Qais Mujeeb and Dastango Himanshu Bajpai, then a session on ‘Adab-e-Zabaan’, an Urdu ‘Afsana’ contest and ‘qissagoi’ on Matru Mirza by Midhat Khan and Amanullah Khan. Literary legends like Padmshree Muzaffar Ali, Dr Qamar Rehman, Prof Sabra Habib, Dr Abbas Raza, Meenu Khare, among other big names, will be carrying the literary conversations and discussions forward.

From light and sound to puppet shows, Begum Fest will highlight cultural gems of the city. Moreover, a Mehfil-e-Tasawwuf (Qawwali) will adorn the cultural section of the affair.

Besides illuminating discussions, a charming photo gallery, by Musaddiq Raza and curated by SN Lal, awaits you. Along with this, an exhibition showcasing rare handicrafts, intricate Zardozi and Chikankari work will be standing in all glory to enthrall the visitors. For entertainment, a games zone along with a food court (exhibiting the rich Awadhi cuisine) and musical programmes are also in store.
