In order to aid children suffering from cancer, Lucknow's Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) has opened doors to a new paediatric oncology ward.
In honour of World Cancer Day on February 4 and International Childhood Cancer Day on February 15, while putting in efforts towards becoming a centre of excellence in the sector of paediatric oncology, RMLIMS is spearheading a few campaigns and initiatives.
Established under 'Suddridh@Lucknow for Access2Care' campaign, this 5-bedded ward will support children with cancer and the patients' families through improved access.
In other measures, a blood donation unit was flagged off at RMLIMS Mother and Child Referral Hospital, along with an 8 km awareness rally being organised, covering the route from RMLIMS to KGMU. The latter saw participation of 50 cyclists from the Lucknow women's cycling club, led by childhood cancer survivor Sugandha Kumari. The rally was a part of 'Shaping their future- call for a plan for childhood cancer' campaign which is going on till March 10.
