Before we go further, let's talk context. Lucknow was enlisted amongst the garbage-free cities in the country in Swachh Survekshan 2021. It was also declared as the cleanest city in Uttar Pradesh in 2020. AND, you should also know that the same city ranked poorly at 121th, 115th and 269th positions in 2019, 2018 and 2017 respectively.
By now you must have understood how much the city has progressed and what it has gained in the past two years.
Keeping this in mind, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is introducing certain steps towards the welfare of the citizens and the sanitation in the city. Following the cleanliness model of Indore, LMC aims to improve its ranking in the Swacch Baharat Mission.
LMC claims to resolve all those issues with waste management that the city dwellers have been dealing with.
From fixing faulty vehicles and utilising damaged vehicles to collect garbage to purchasing new vehicles and equipment, LMC will be working on numerous grievances.
There have been previous issues with organisations hiring one-fourth of the number of employees they were supposed to have. In this regard, the corporation established that deployment of sanitation workers will be done.
20 additional workers have been deployed at the Budheshwar temple during the Saawan month. Teams have been formed to look after the aforementioned issues.
Let's not litter and keep our surroundings clean. So, now, Lucknowites, if you see someone throwing something on the streets, gently remind them and encourage them to dispose properly.
Lucknow has come a long way from being a one star city to a three star garbage-free city and we're nothing but proud. While LMC is planning to do their work, you can contribute by doing your part!
