Lucknow’s public transport scene has turned a new page with the arrival of the city's first electric double-decker bus! Launched at the ‘Aakanksha Haat’ event at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, this eco-friendly ride began its route on Sunday, inviting passengers to experience a greener, smarter way to travel through the city.

Designed with modern technology for passenger comfort, the electric double-decker brings an elevated perspective to familiar routes. This addition marks a refreshing shift towards sustainable public transport, blending utility with an exciting experience on the go.

More on the route & fare:

The new double-decker buses in Lucknow now connect Awadh Bus Stand in Kamta to Lucknow Airport via Shaheed Path, making stops at Singar Nagar, Transport Nagar, and Amausi. Covering a 30 km route, these buses offer a convenient fare structure that matches the city's AC e-buses, with tickets starting at ₹12 and the complete Kamta-to-airport journey costing ₹45.

On Saturdays, the double-decker service will turn into a special one, offering passengers a scenic ride through Lucknow’s historic sites as part of a special heritage tour. This weekend route will allow tourists to explore iconic monuments across the city, while women passengers can enjoy free rides on these special heritage tours—making it a perfect way to experience Lucknow’s rich heritage.

Equipped with security features, WiFi connectivity

The newly introduced double-decker buses in Lucknow come equipped with a range of modern features to enhance passenger experience and safety. These fully air-conditioned buses feature CCTV cameras with live feed, panic buttons for women’s safety, live tracking, and onboard Wi-Fi. The buses can accommodate up to 65 passengers, offering extra seating capacity for daily commuters.

Regular passengers can avail a 10% discount on fares through the MST service, while women holding a membership pass receive a substantial 50% discount.

With their increased seating capacity and eco-friendly design, these double-decker buses are expected to significantly improve Lucknow’s public transport system. The government also has plans to expand this service to additional city routes, aiming to strengthen the urban conveyance network.
