Celebrated with unparalleled enthusiasm and fervour, Diwali is a festival that's rooted deeply in the state's culture and heritage. Whether it's the grand Deepotsav in Ayodhya or the magnificent Dev Deepavali in Banaras, UP comes alive with vibrant festivities around this time. Moreover, this year, the state capital, Lucknow, is in for a remarkable gift in the form of its very own waste-to-wonder park.
This park, aptly named the 'UP Darshan Park,' had been in the making since April of this year, and is situated behind the Hotel Vivanta Taj in Gomti Nagar. True to its name, the park will serve as a reflection of the unique qualities of the entire state, showcasing a collection of temples, significant landmarks, and historical abodes from various districts across UP.
Here's a glimpse of what awaits you at the new waste-to-wonders park in Lucknow:
The UP Darshan Park is poised to elevate the city's aesthetic charm while providing an enchanting experience for its visitors. To accomplish this, a total of 16 larger-than-life replicas have been erected amidst the lush greenery of the garden.
Among these renowned replicas, you can find iconic landmarks such as Agra's Taj Mahal, Bara Imambara and the Vidhan Sabha of Lucknow, the upcoming Ram temple of Ayodhya, the majestic Jhansi Fort featuring a striking statue of Rani Laxmi Bai, Mathura's Banke Bihari Temple, Kashi's Kashi Vishwanath Temple and many others. This park is set to be a remarkable tribute to the cultural and architectural diversity of the state.
In line with the approach taken by similar parks across the country, the UP Darshan Park has been crafted with a strong emphasis on sustainability. The park's creation involved the innovative recycling of waste materials, including discarded spares from four-wheelers, rolling shutters, rusted almirahs, tire rims, bicycle frames, and household iron waste, among other items.
Special chemical treatments have been done on the models which are expected to make them last for several decades.
Along with this, thousands of plants and multiple trees have been planted on the premises spanning over 10 to 12 acres.
Furthermore, the park will feature additional amenities aimed at enhancing the visitor experience, including an open-air theatre, a food court, washrooms and various other facilities that will be integrated into the park's infrastructure.
As the finishing touches are currently being made to this extraordinary park, dedicated artists and workers are diligently striving to ensure its completion in November. LDA Chief Engineer, A.K. Singh, who has been tasked with the construction of the project on seven acres of land in Gomti Nagar, said, "Artistes are working on a war-footing to complete the park by November 10."
