Following the orders by the government, several liquor shops opened the shutters on Monday and as expected, a number of people turned up to stock up their requirements. Lockdown has reached its 3rd phase but it was disappointing to see some people still not complying with the social distancing norms. While some places adequately followed the norms and maintained necessary precautions, a lot of shops could be seen thronged with people, despite clear instructions.
While the users are happy about the liquor shops being functional now, a lot of people have showed their disagreement on the same. A resident of Indira Nagar and a law student, Amit Agarwal said,"Liquor in no way is an essential item. The number of takers/users is a lot and includes people coming from all sorts of background. If there is anything that can pull more crowd in one place and make sure people are out on the streets, it is alcohol. Hence, a big risk!"

Another resident from Vibhuti Khand, Shivam Agarwal said,"While we are scared to go out for the daily supplies, we wonder how many people will be exposed to the outside in their attempt to buy alcohol. Since more people will be out on the roads, trying to get their hands on booze, movement could also become difficult for those who go out for their daily supplies. This move is a great risk."
The commercial establishments have been instructed to operate between 10am to 7pm while adhering to follow all social distancing norms. All government service employees will have to use their own vehicle for commute as public transport will remain shut in Lucknow till May 17th.
The officials have also suggested all organisations to sanitize their premises before resuming work. The detailed circular is attached below-
