The Kanpur Metro will run on an underground corridor from Chunni Ganj to Nayaganj, Nayaganj to Transport Nagar and CSA to Double Pulia. As such 6 tunnels will be built across the network and for this, around half a dozen TBMs will be used here to complete the task in the stipulated time. In the first phase, a tunnel will be dug between Chunni Ganj to Nayaganj read reports.

The 2 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) used in the construction of Lucknow Metro, namely 'Ganga' and 'Gomti', will also be brought to Kanpur to speed up the construction work. Besides, additonal boring machines will be imported from Turkey soon, read reports. Even though assembling the fully automatic TBM is a complex process, it will be done in Kanpur itself.
