Experience the thrill as Lucknow takes centre stage for the third edition of Khelo India University Games 2022, where 207 varsities will complete in 21 events spread across 12 days. While KIUG 2022 kicked off with kabaddi matches at the SVSP Sports Complex Indoor Hall, Gautam Budh Nagar today, its official opening ceremony will take place at Babu Banarasi Das University, Lucknow on May 25.
The Khelo India University Games 2022 will be held between May 25 to June 3.
While five cities of Uttar Pradesh will host most of the events, shooting events will be held in New Delhi. This edition will also mark the debut of water sports including a rowing contest at Ramgarh Tal lake, Gorakhpur.
All the events during the 12-day Games will be organised at ‘borrowed’ venues due to a dearth of suitable infrastructure owned by the U.P. Sports Directorate.
KIUG helps around 4000 participating athletes gain recognition at the national-level. The idea behind Khelo India University Games is to promote the rich culture of the state, ensure fair play in sports, enhance exposure of university students, and gradually magnify Uttar Pradesh’s sports infrastructure.
