The maddening sight of severe traffic snarls which mostly remain evident during both peak and non-peak hours around the Khurram Nagar and Tedhi Puliya crossing of Lucknow will soon be a thing of the past.
The authorities are making rapid progress in the construction of the Khurram Nagar-Sector 25 Indira Nagar flyover, which will help in decongesting multiple areas on the stretch. For this, the flyover is being constructed using V shape support columns, which are used to save surplus time and cost.
The construction of the 4-lane flyover has already touched a mark of 35% completion. With this, a particular section of the project has already been made using the V shape columns which is being undertaken by the UP Public Works Department.
Reportedly, the NH (PWD) chief engineer, Ashok Kanojia has asserted "The project will be the first such flyover in the state which will be developed using V shape support columns, as a result, the project will be completed in a comparatively shorter period and at a lower cost."
Additionally, the government has granted approval for an extension of the flyover by 900 meters. Consequently, the initial starting point of the flyover, which was previously proposed to be the Khurram Nagar junction, has been altered.
Notably, the flyover will now commence from the Jagrani Hospital area of Kalyanpur. For this, the authorities are also working on the soil testing, excavation and piling related work.
With this, the PWD authorities have also planned for the installation of LED street lights and CCTV cameras which will be equipped once the construction gets completed. Furthermore, the beautification of support columns of the flyover in also in plans.
