Lucknow is yet again set to host another headliner cricket event on April 1 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. With the upcoming IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals franchises, the authorities have geared up for planning traffic management, in view of the mega sporting event.
The Lucknow Police Commissionerate is now formulating comprehensive strategies to address the long-standing traffic and crowd management problems in the city, particularly during sporting events.
The Lucknow District Magistrate, Suryapal Gangwar, conducted a meeting with police authorities on Thursday to discuss traffic management strategies for an upcoming match.
Important instructions were given regarding the arrangement of parking lots both inside and outside the stadium. In addition, vigilance will be in place to ensure seamless movement of traffic on connecting routes.
Additionally, the district magistrate has appealed to both LSG and Ekana stadium authorities to mention details about the parking areas for notifying the visitors. In addition, a route chart and road markers will be placed in various spots of the routes to facilitate commuters heading to the venue.
During the occurrence of sporting events in the city, the routes become egregiously clogged up. Additionally, the dearth of parking spots in close proximity to the stadium further worsens the situation, resulting in a chaotic mess, especially during match hours.
For this, the administration is further preparing a new drop in front of UP112 building for mitigating traffic snarls in the area. With the commencement of this route, commuters coming from Rae Bareli Road will not be required to cross Sultanpur Road from under the Shaheed Path during the match hours. Instead, they will easily be able to cross over and drop on the other side of Sultanpur Road.
