In order to facilitate trouble-free travel for locals during summers, authorities in Lucknow have planned to introduce air-conditioned electric buses on the roads across the city. As per reports, these buses are being delivered by a factory in Dharukheda near Gurugram. Called as 'prototype', they would be deployed on 10 routes in the city catering to a large number of city folks. The project shall be further extended after a successful trial run.

Reportedly, the manager of Lucknow City Transport Services Company informed that the prototype buses shall be functional on each decided route for an interval of 4 four days. Analysing the count of commuters that avail the services of these buses, the authorities will get more vehicles into the system. As per reports, the joint director of the District Transport Department acquainted that the manufacturing of AC buses in the Haryana factory has been speeded up to ensure that they are brought to Lucknow as soon as possible.

Amongst the fleet of a large number of buses to be introduced in the city, 4 buses shall start their run in the initial trial phase. Reports state that each bus is being developed at a cost of ₹1.25 crores. Currently, Lucknow has a stock of 139 buses, out of which 39 are powered by electricity.
While the metro has definitely eased connectivity for local commuters in the city, individuals who do not travel on the metro route find buses as the best resort. Thereby, this latest move by the city officials shall be conducive towards providing an easier and comfortable alternative to regular travellers.
