In a significant technological revamp, the dead lake at Eldeco-II will be rejuvenated and restored with the help of a state-of-the-art cleaning system. As per reports, Lucknow Development Authority is planning to deploy bio-engineered water cleaning technology to purify the lake and its ecosystem. Reportedly, this is the first that this advanced technology is being used in Uttar Pradesh for ameliorating a waterbody.

Developed close to the Rae Bareli Road, the Eldeco township aimed to provide a new and upgraded housing zone for the citizens. Over the course of time, the lake at this facility has turned into a waste dumping ground. Reportedly, sewage materials have found their way into this lake, which is causing pollution and hampering the sustainability of aquatic life. Besides, reports state that residences in the low-lying areas are affected by floods during the monsoons.

In view of these issues, it had become important to direct attention towards reviving this lake. As per reports, a high official at LDA informed that a string of specialised activities will be undertaken to clean the lake and restore it to its maiden form. While microbes and specific plants will be added to it, vetiver grass will be introduced in a bid to counter the toxicity in the water. In addition to this, it has been reported that the lake will also be beautified.

Interventions to take months before the first results show up

While the authorities have planned a list of streamlined measures for this project, it is anticipated that the scheme would take a long period of time before the first results are noticed. Further, reports state that the officials might also take steps for improving and upgrading the roads once the lake project is rolled out.
