After a brief respite, Lucknow is once again gripped by an intense heatwave. The rising temperatures have led to the city recording its hottest night in 24 years, with the minimum temperature between Thursday and Friday reaching 31.3°C, which is 5.8°C above normal.
According to the meteorological department, no relief is expected from the heat for at least the next five days. Daytime temperatures are forecasted to soar as high as 44°C, while nighttime temperatures will remain above normal levels.
The extreme heat has also impacted local hospitals, which are seeing an increase in patients suffering from heat-related illnesses. Many residents have reported symptoms such as nausea, dehydration, and abdominal pain.
With no immediate relief in sight, residents are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and to stay well-hydrated to mitigate the effects of the heatwave.
