The Lucknow healthcare division has alerted government hospitals to enhance their emergency services during Holi. Notably, amidst the festivities, the occasion is infamous for increased street disturbances and a surge in vehicular accidents, primarily due to alcohol consumption and other related issues, leading to a higher influx of patients.
Consequently, government hospitals in Lucknow will implement several measures to ensure preparedness between Sunday and Monday.
Below are all the measures that are being taken by the medical institutes of the city to ensure preparedness during Holi:
Approximately 100 beds will be collectively reserved in various government hospitals in Lucknow to address emergency issues.
The Trauma Centre at KGMU, Lucknow, has allocated 20 beds specifically for medical emergencies. Senior residents from each department have been assigned duties to ensure doctors from all branches remain on duty throughout Holi.
There will be consistent availability of specialists and paramedical staff at emergency and OPD facilities of the hospitals during these 48 hours.
The Balrampur Hospital in the Old Lucknow area has further prepared a roster of medical staff, including an eye specialist, a skin specialist, and an orthopaedic surgeon.
A dedicated helpline number, 9118455570, has been issued by a not-for-profit organization to provide rapid ambulance services for patients during Holi.
Alternatively, in case of emergencies, people can also dial the 108 or 112 medical helpline numbers for immediate assistance.
