In an attempt to uplift the aesthetic appeal of the city's landscape, Lucknow Municipal Corporation has decided to roll out a string of interventions. As per the plans, an expenditure of ₹34.57 crores will be incurred for upgrading and revamping the environs of 706 parks in Lucknow. In addition to this, ₹15 crores will be spent on establishing green corridors across 5 markets in the city including Aminabad, Yehiyaganj, Chowk, Bhootnath and Alambagh.

Stepping ahead with its objectives, the civic body has prepared a blueprint for beautifying the gardens. The proposal for this development project was sanctioned in the 15th Finance Commission meeting and now, the execution of on-ground plans is awaited. Under the upcoming scheme, the conditions of 381 undeveloped parks and 325 underdeveloped parks will be improved.
Amidst more than 1,800 municipal parks in the city, 381 undeveloped gardens will now witness the establishment of boundary walls and pathways. Besides this, saplings of oxygen-rich varieties will be planted in a number of parks, including Dr. Hedgewar Park located on Rae Bareli Road. Further, the civic authority is also trying to ensure a better experience for women coming to the parks. Keeping this in view, pink urinals will be set up across multiple frequented gardens, for the benefit of females.

Additionally, the aforesaid 5 markets will be revamped on the green lines, with a large-scale plantation of trees. With regards to this, Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia held a meeting with the traders of the markets and the associated interventions will be implemented soon. Apart from this, green corridors will also be set up along prominent road stretches including the Amar Shaheed Path.
It has been informed that green corridors will be established on roads along Vikramaditya Marg and the Railway Line, Sitapur road, and stretches from IIT Tiraha to Yadav Chauraha, Vijaipur Underpass to Pickup Bhawan and IGP Chauraha to Faizabad Road. Further, Airport VIP Entry, Kanpur Road, Nadarganj Industrial Area and the section between Yadav Chauraha and Hardoi Road also expect a facelift.
