In a bid to improve the law and order condition in Uttar Pradesh, the administration has decided to set up two more police stations in the Lucknow Police Commissionerate.
At present, there are 43 police stations that are working under the police commissionerate in Lucknow. According to officials, the Madayganj police station will be set up under the Hasanganj police station while the Dubagga police station will be rolled out under the Kakori police station.
Witnessing the increase in population and the significant crime graph, the police department had proposed 5 new stations at Sarojini Nagar, Chinhat, Madiyaon, Kakori and Hasanganj. While the administration has given its nod to the two stations at present, the other locations will have to wait for a little longer.
Overlooking a population of about 1.25 lakh people, the Madayganj police station will be formed by separating 22 localities of the Hasanganj police station. Spanning over 4 sq kilometres, this police station will be established in the existing Madayganj outpost. Reportedly, Anand Kumar Tiwari has been given the charge of the new Madayganj police station.
The Dubagga police station will take charge of 43 mohallas and villages from the Kakori police station. Spanning over 40 sq kilometres, the new police station will cover a population of 1.20 lakhs. Anil Prakash Singh has been given the charge of this police station.
Notably, the commissionerate system was implemented in Lucknow and Gautam Buddh Nagar District in January 2020. After a while, this system was also introduced in Varanasi and Kanpur. With the addition of the two new stations, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate will house 45 police stations under its authority.
