Did you know that Lucknow is soon going to become the first city in UP to implement the E-Mobility Plan? As per officials, Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of electronically run vehicles in the country i.e. 4.5 lakh, following which a comprehensive E-Mobility Plan will be implement across 17 Municipal Corporations including the one at Lucknow.
The city's public transport will be equipped with E-Vehicles running from railway, airport, bus stand, metro to anywhere. At the same time, the garbage department will also deploy EV trucks.
Recently, the UP Government, Asian Development Bank and NITI Aayog met for a meeting at Taj Hotel, Lucknow. Here, plans were chalked out to launch better public transport system at 5 prominent cities of UP in a year along with a new Electric Vehicle Awareness Portal. The fleet of electric buses in Kanpur, Agra, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Lucknow will go up from the current 750 to 2,500 within a year.
Lucknow has been selected for the state's first e-mobility plan city and become a model for other cities. The Industrial Development Department, Asian Development Bank and NITI Aayog, in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), have prepared the E-Mobility Plan specifically for Lucknow.
