To strengthen law & order in Uttar Pradesh, the state administration is all set to install more CCTV cameras and increase the number of patrolling vehicles across the state. More than ₹730 crores have been allotted to boost the Police Emergency Management System UP 112. With an aim to amp up the existing vigilance in the Capital City, a major chunk of this budget will be used for Lucknow as well, suggest reports.
According to officials, more than ₹520 crores out of the total budget have been allocated to the entire state under the Safe City Scheme. As a part of this project, the authorities will set up a 'Women Help Desk' at every police station in the state.
Reportedly, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate and the Rural Police will get a total of ₹85.36 crores under the Safe City Scheme. The Lucknow Police Commissionerate will deploy this budget on installing Pink Booth, Pink Four Wheeler Vehicle, Pink Scooty, Pink Toilets and other initiatives under Mission Shakti across the city.
In addition to this, Lucknow Municipal Corporation will use the fund handed down under this scheme to enhance the Integrated Traffic Management system in the city. The civic body is planning on installing more CCTV cameras on major crossings and intersections. Apart from ensuring that the citizens are following the traffic rules, these cameras will also prove to be beneficial from the safety point of view. In case of any criminal incidents or accidents, footage from these cameras will come in handy.
The remaining budget has been marked out for procuring safety equipment, arms and ammunition for the police department. From the pool of ₹250 crores, each of the 1,526 police stations in UP will get at least ₹16 lakhs. Notably, there are 45 police stations in the commissionerate and five under the Lucknow rural circle.
This part of the fund will be used to ensure that the security forces get the best equipment to keep the state safe. All of these moves by the administration are aimed to ensure the law & order in Uttar Pradesh remains in check.
