Temperatures in Lucknow, which had crossed 40°C over the last two days, were kept in check due to a strong dust storm in the city on Monday afternoon. Besides keeping the maximum temperature in the city at 38.7°C and weather in Lucknow relatively cool, the dust storm also left uprooted trees and displaced advertising hoardings in its wake.
Officials at the UP State Meteorological Department have identified new active western disturbance over the Himalayas as the cause behind dust storm and thunderstorm in parts of UP. As a result, patchy spells of rain have also been predicted in Lucknow on Tuesday.
Notwithstanding the partly cloudy skies and scattered showers, the State Met Department has made clear that there won't be any major relief from the June scorching heat in UP.
