Recently, the Lucknow Zoo reduced the adoption tariff rates for most animals to encourage more donors. The reduced tariff rates have prompted several private educational institutes and bureaucrats across the state to contribute to adoption efforts.
The Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden operates an 'animal adoption scheme' allowing individuals, families, institutions, schools, offices, groups, companies, semi-government or governmental institutions, corporations, or NGOs to adopt animals. Adoption funds are allocated towards maintaining the animals' daily lifestyle in the zoo.
According to Anoop Chaturvedi, PRO to Director of Lucknow Zoo, "The tariffs are also available on a per-day basis, where people can adopt pheasant birds for as low as ₹25 per day, while mammals like common foxes can be adopted at ₹55 per day."
Furthermore, the maximum yearly tariff for wild animals such as lions and tigers is ₹8.16 lakh. Chaturvedi adds, "People can also choose to adopt these animals at ₹2600 per day."
As special perks for the adopters, their names will be displayed outside the enclosure of the animal. Furthermore, there is also a provision for giving the adopter a special admit card on demand for viewing their adopted wildlife.
