Lucknow Zoo to celebrate Wildlife Week from October 2-8; here's what's happening!

Jatin Shewaramani

In celebration of National Wildlife Week, Lucknow's Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden is hosting a series of engaging events for the public. As part of the festivities, the zoo is offering free entry to children under the age of 12. To take advantage of this offer, children must wear their school uniforms and present their school ID cards upon arrival.

Quiz, art events & fancy dress competitions for children

This year's Wildlife Week promises exciting activities for people of all ages. If your child is fascinated by zoology, they can join the quiz competitions, where they’ll have the chance to showcase their knowledge of wildlife. The quizzes will be held throughout the week, with options for both solo and group participation.

Additionally, district-level forest divisions are organizing guided visits to wildlife sanctuaries for interested individuals and students, providing a hands-on learning experience about local wildlife.

Village Forest Committees and Eco Development Committees will also host various programs focused on wildlife conservation. These initiatives aim to educate school children and the public about the importance of protecting key species, such as the Sarus Crane (state bird), Barasingha (state animal), dolphins, and snakes, fostering a deeper appreciation for wildlife conservation.

National Wildlife Week at Lucknow Zoo is set to be an educational and fun-filled experience, perfect for inspiring the next generation of nature lovers!

Photography & documentary contest

Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden will be hosting a photography and documentary-making contest open to the public. Wildlife enthusiasts will have the opportunity to visit the zoo during Wildlife Week and capture stunning images or create engaging documentaries featuring the zoo’s animals.

The winners of both contests will be announced on October 8th, and will win exciting prizes and official recognition from the zoo authorities.

If you’re interested in participating in any of these contests or events, you can contact 9140210499 for registration and further details.
