In an effort to improve the quality of living in Lucknow, the UP Government will hand out a total of 1,040 low-cost flats to the urban-poor population of the city. This is a move to help the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) of Lucknow gain access to better living conditions.
These extremely low-cost flats come as part of an initiative labelled as Light House Project (LHP), in which 14 storied towers will be built at Lucknow's Awadh Vihar Yojana, which is across the Shaheed Path. The 1,040 flats in these 14 towers will then be given to people belonging to the weaker economical section.
The 1,040 flats which will be given to the population belonging to the EWS are small, cost-effective 415 square feet flats which are available for just Rs 4.75 lakh.
The actual cost of each flat is around Rs 12.59 lakh, but Rs 7.83 lakh will be given as a grant from the Central and the state government. The remaining Rs 4.76 lakh will be paid by the beneficiaries of the Economically Weaker Section. The flats will be allotted via a lottery system.
