Mumbai-Ahmedabad & Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express trains to revive operations on August 7!

Being the first private and corporate train in the country, Tejas Express provides a luxurious travel facility to the passengers.

With the dropping infection tallies, IRCTC has announced that Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Ahmedabad and Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas will resume function from August 7 onwards. As per reports, the above-mentioned trains will run four days a week including Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Being the first private train in the country, Tejas Express provides a luxurious travel facility to the passengers.

After the infection count escalated, driven by the second wave of the pandemic, a number of trains were suspended across the country. Notably, the Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express (Train No. 82901182902) service was stopped on April 2, 2021 and the Lucknow- New Delhi facility (Train No. 82501/82502) was suspended on 9 April 2021. While the trains were halted for a short period of time, the timeline extended with the increased interval of the second wave.

As per the stated information, Mumbai Ahmedabad trains through Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Nadiad, Vapi and Borivli in Mumbai. While the first train was launched between Lucknow and New Delhi, this was the second facility of its kind in the country. As per reports, commuters will not be provided with concession alternatives for travel in the Tejas Express. Additionally, full fare will be charged for kids aged 5 and above. The younger children will be exempted from fare and their travel will be booked along with their parents.

As per reports, the trains will have no tatkal quota and the seats will be divided between general quota and foreign tourist quota. Reportedly, 6 seats in Executive Class and 12 seats in Chair Car have been marked for foreign tourists. It is noteworthy that ticket cancellation charges for these trains will be the same as per the standards set by the Indian Railways.
