In a bid to maintain the beautification done in the city for G20 and GIS summits, a No Spitting campaign has been started in Lucknow from Feb 23 under the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban. During this campaign, which will run till March 1, a challan of ₹250 will be imposed on anyone caught spitting in red and yellow spots in the city.

Similarly, those who are caught littering in the 'no garbage zones' in Lucknow will also be charged a fine of ₹250 under the campaign. The city folks will be made aware of the campaign via public information and hoardings featuring the Swachh Bharat Mission message, the new provision of fine and an appeal to the people to avoid ruining the new-look and spruced up Lucknow.

Employing a rather creative maneuver to discourage people from littering and spitting in public places, those caught in the act will also be given the title of Mr/Miss Piku. Orders regarding the campaign has been issued by the State Mission Director of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Urban) Uttar Pradesh and the administration has been asked to ensure on-the-spot action against those caught violating directives.
