Walk-in COVID vaccinations have been postponed until May 10.

The Uttar Pradesh authorities have directed that people aged over 45 years, will now have to compulsorily register on the Co-WIN portal to get the COVID vaccination jab. Until now, this population segment could avail of the walk-in facility while only those in the 18-44 age category, were required to register beforehand. As per reports, this prior registration norm will continue until May 10 in Lucknow and across UP, amid the sudden rise of coronavirus infections.

No on-site registration at COVID vaccination centres

Now, all adults are expected to pre-register and book a slot to receive the vaccination. This restriction will be imposed only on those people getting their first jab, while the second dose will be administered as already scheduled on the vaccination cards.

The Additional Chief Secretary of Medical Health and Family Welfare issued orders on Thursday, to postpone the on-site registration for the 45+ category until May 10. Under the authority of this directive, all health officials and vaccination staff have been instructed to follow the 'no online registration - no vaccination' policy strictly.
