Public buses, Ola and Uber cabs in Lucknow to get panic buttons

The government has decided to integrate the Safe City App with UP's Smart City App, incorporating all safety-related functions for the public.

The Uttar Pradesh state government has now proposed a new safety enhancement measure for women. This involves the installation of panic buttons in city buses and private cab services such as Ola and Uber.

Reportedly, a meeting was recently conducted in the presence of government officials and the state's chief secretary to discuss the implementation of this plan. Additionally, the government is currently in negotiations with both Ola and Uber companies to ensure the integration of panic buttons in all their cabs operational in Lucknow.

During the meeting, the UP Chief Secretary issued instructions to the transport department regarding the decision to install CCTVs and panic buttons in public transport buses, as well as in Ola and Uber cabs.

In addition, the government has made the decision to integrate the Safe City App with UP's Smart City App, incorporating all safety-related functions for the public. To facilitate this, the transport department will collaborate with UP 112 to study the development and functionalities of the new integrated app.
