Residents of Lucknow and other UP cities will soon be able to get real-time updates about the conditions of different road networks of their city. The Public Works Department (PWD) is developing a GIS-based app which will provide real-time road status to the users, so that they can travel seamlessly during their journey.
The upcoming app will basically serve the internal users of the department by which they will be able to update and review the repair timeline and cost estimates for different road networks. However, a separate navigational panel will be provided for the regular users on which they be able to get real-time updates regarding the ongoing maintenance and planned repair work on the exact stretches of the roads of their city.
UP PWD will be integrating the details of around three lakh kilometres of road networks before rolling out the app. Currently, the info of 55,000 km of road networks has been recorded by the department.
Once available for users, the app is expected to aid citizens in keeping a track of the road situation in their areas and thus save themselves from traffic snarls and more.
