RMLIMS launches book of millet recipes curated by dieticians; Encourages healthy diet for patients

With ongoing full-fledged promotion of millets by the Centre & State, Lucknow's Lohia Institute plans on distributing 10,000 copies annually.

A special book, with curated recipes of millet-based dishes, has been cumulated by a group of dieticians at Lucknow's Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS). The food made of millets is not only easily prepared but also assists in healing faster from health issues. The aim of the effort is to spread awareness about the plethora of benefits of millets.

With the ongoing active and full-fledged propagation of millets by the Centre and the State, the government institution plans to distribute as many as 10,000 copies of this recipe book annually. A millet-based diet is also being introduced for patients, such as a soft diet millet like Khichdi.

“There are numerous dishes that can be made from millets at home. Ragi Laddo, Jowar Upma, Ragi Biscuits, Bajra dosa, Kodo Khichdi, Buckwheat or commonly called Kuttu is another millet that is used commonly in our homes particularly during fasts. It can be a part of our daily diet,” stated Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary-general, Association of International Doctors.

Some of the many benefits of the nutritious food from millets include easy digestion, being a rich source of Vitamin E, protection of body tissues from damage and speedy recovery.
