Lucknow Metro has come back on track since last month after a prolonged period of halt due to the coronavirus. In just about a month's time, this mode of public transport has been witnessing steady ridership, just like the pre-covid era in the city. Ever since its resumption, there has been a major emphasis on contactless travel, top-notch hygiene and ample of social distancing. Further to make the services safer for the citizens who commute via the metro, the authorities are promoting the Go Smart Card for a contactless travel experience.

The Go Smart Card will enable contactless travel amidst the commuters and cut short on the queues for the tokens, which would further save time and help in maintaining the required distance. This card comes with 10% savings on your total cost of each metro ride and your 11th metro journey will be absolutely free of cost. You can recharge your Go Smart Card online, thereby ensuring a safer travel experience as compared to the process of purchasing tokens. The metro travellers can also use their cards for generating tokens from ticket vending machines for their family members.

Speaking about the escalating ridership, the UPMRC MD Kumar Keshav, was quoted saying, "Today's ridership on 5th Oct. 2020 of Lucknow Metro is 16,976 passengers at 10 PM. Excellent work by whole Operations & Maintenance team. We will achieve full confidence of the people very soon."

The UPMRC is also making use of ultraviolet lights for disinfecting surfaces and installing touch-free foot pedals, to make sure that the highest standards of health and hygiene are met seamlessly. The station premises are being sanitised at regular intervals and the metro trains are sterilised twice a day. The on-ground operational staff are also equipped with gloves, masks and sanitisers, to arrest any spread of the contagious coronavirus.
