Keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic situation, the Joint Police Commissioner of Lucknow announced on Sunday that the city would remain clamped under Section 144 till July 6. While the case tallies have dropped considerably in the state capital, the fear of a revived spread and the anticipated third wave still lingers on. Further, the top police official affirmed that the decision regarding the extension of the lockdown will be taken on Tuesday after making a note of the current circumstances.

Active tallies contract to a count of 1,121 patients on Sunday

After the harrowing effects of the second wave of the pandemic, the situation has improved remarkably in Lucknow. With a high count of recoveries and minimal new infections, the active tallies in the city shrunk to a count of 1,121 patients on Sunday. While 7 deaths were registered on Saturday, the total count of fatalities has peaked up at 2,493.

Cumulatively, 2,37,763 individuals have been affected by the virus in Lucknow and the major proportion of these infections were witnessed during the months of April and May. While the graph has taken a downward trajectory now, it is important to practice complete caution so that an uncontrolled acceleration of infection tallies is not revived.

Thereby, it is important to strictly follow all the stated guidelines and protocols and avoid all gathering and crowded locations. In view of the impending apprehensions, the authorities have extended the continuing section 144 restraints while the complete lockdown curbs may be revoked once, once the active cases drop below the 600 mark.
