Lucknow's Railway Hospital gets a new ward to cater to patients dealing with mental health problems

This new establishment in the post-COVID ward will treat all the railway employees and their family members.

Besides inflicting damages to the physical health of individuals, the virus is causing rampant problems for mental health. In an attempt to address this neglected need, the officials at Lucknow's Railway Hospital have established a separate ward for treating mental health patients at the COVID care centre. This new establishment in the post-COVID ward will treat all the railway employees and their family members, who have been suffering from mental health problems after the infection.

Sadly, a large count of railway officers and their family members caught the infection during the second wave. Reports state that more than 100 people succumbed to the virus, which includes the relatives of loco pilots and officials in other departments. Amongst those who have recovered and returned back to the home, a lot of individuals have been suffering from issues insomnia and depression. Subsequently, they approached the railway doctors with their problems and the railway department took the needed step for alleviating the situation.

While the chest and respiratory disease block at the hospital will have COVID patients, a designated area for post-COVID patients has been created. As per reports, this new ward has a total of 30 beds, to provide diagnosis and cure facilities for patients dealing with the mental and physical health issues, that arise after the infection subsides. The authorities have planned to deploy trained mental-health specialists and counselling services will also be provided for such patients. The DRM headquarters have already submitted a proposal to the Railway board, in this regards.
