The UP state government is set to launch the statewide plantation drive 'Ped Lagao, Ped Bachao Jan Abhiyaan-2024' from July 20. Over 10,000 saplings will be planted along the Kukrail river, in the newly vacated Akbar Nagar area, in this campaign.

Offices, schools, and city institutions in Lucknow will join in planting saplings. UP CM has also urged all residents to participate in this noble cause. The state government plans to develop a Miyawaki forest in this area, incorporating various tree species.

Under the 'Ped Lagao, Ped Bachao Jan Abhiyaan', state authorities aim to plant over 36.60 crore saplings in a single day across several cities.
