UP Police launches 'Savera' initiative to help senior citizens

Around 7.5 lakh elderly people across UP have enrolled themselves in the initiative.

Recently launched 'Savera' initiative by UP Police, is a new ray of hope for the elderlies of Lucknow and other cities here. Through this initiative, UP Police will pay special attention to provide quick assistance to citizens above 60 years, who can reach out by dialing 112. The service will especially help the senior citizens who live alone.

Apart from this, UP Police has also taken up the task to escort women travelling alone, from 10 pm to 6 am.

How will the initiative work?

  • As per the initiative, UP Police will keep a record of the senior citizens so as to provide immediate help in case of an emergency.

  • For this elderly people will be required to enrol themselves which can be done by visiting the nearby police station or by dialing 112.

  • After the enrollment, senior citizens will be able to reach out to the police by dialing 112 to seek assistance.

  • A police response vehicle will immediately dispatch for aiding the needful person.

Up until now, a total of 7.5 lakh senior citizens of the state have enrolled themselves in the scheme. Furthermore, the UP police is also running a campaign to increase the enrolment of elderly people in the initiative.
